It's not that complicated though and really worth this.
To travel to Russia, foreign citizens (except for countries with which Russia has visa-free entry agreements) must obtain a visa corresponding to the purpose of the trip. The type of visa suitable for attending the festival and exploring Sochi is tourist visa.
To apply for a visa you will need a so-called invitation. Most hotels and hostels provide their guests with these invitations (you better ask if the chosen accommodation goes with this kind of confirmation before booking). Pretty much all the personnel of housing services in Sochi is tourist friendly and speaks english. We love our guests.

For foreign SNOWVISION guests, everything is much easier. We will help you with your visa. All you need to do is to provide the necessary documents, all other issues will be resolved by us.

By plane

Sochi airport has well-established air service to most major cities in Russia. There are direct flights to the biggest Russian cities and main European capitals. You can check fligths and prices at any flight aggregator website.

By train

Sochi is directly connected with Moscow and Saint-Petersburg (travel time 1d and 10hours). Check train schedules and buy tickets on the website of the Russian Railways. Please note - early booking will allow you to significantly cut the costs.

Please note, Krasnaya Polyana resort is situated 40 km far from Sochi airport.

The Krasnaya Polyana mountain resort is located in the foothills of the Main Caucasian Ridge.

Due to the special location of the mountains, the resort has the longest skiing season – from December to June. In winter, it offers about 30 kilometers of ski trails of various levels of difficulty, illuminated trails for evening skiing and trails with artificial snow.

The total capacity of cable cars is up to 2400 people / hour, one of the highest in Russia.
The resort has instructor schools, children ski club, ski equipment rentals and snowpark.

We are provided with accommodation for SNOWVISION foreign guests if you take part in the festival as a team rider or film company stuff person.

All the guests are accommodated at the «Premium Apartments» (1/2 Rooms apartments with kitchen).

Also booking accommodation at Krasnaya Polyana resort will not be a problem for independent travelers with minimal experience of independent travel: huge range of hotels and hostels of the Olympic ski resort be checked on the largest and worldwide known sources - booking.com, hotels.com and many others. A wide selection of private apartments and rooms is presented on Airbnb.com. Please note that winter is a high season in Krasnaya Polyana, book your accommodation in advance to get a wider choice and better prices.

Please remember that Sochi Olympic city has two clusters - mountain and sea. Each of them has its own unique sports infrastructure and magnificent views of mountain peaks and sea sunsets.

Public transportation.

Mainly buses allow you to inexpensive (one trip costs about 1 euro) and quickly move around the city.

Taxi.

Inexpensive and convenient way to move around the city and get to the ski resorts area. International taxi aggregators such as Uber, Gettaxi and their Russian equivalent, Yandex. Taxi offers attractive fares (from 3-4 euros per Sochi city trip; a trip from the city to the Krasnaya Polyana resort will cost you 40-50 euros depending on the app you prefer, and about 20-30 euros from the Sochi airport to the Krasnaya Polyana resort), transparent conditions of transportation and the possibility to order taxi even without knowledge of the Russian language.

Rent a car.

International and local operators of the car rental market are widely represented in Sochi. You can order a car and its "delivery" to the address or get it on arrival at the Sochi airport.

Please note that finding a free car Park in the ski resort area may not be an easy task, and road traffic is tougher and more stressful than in European cities (but still far from chaotic Asian traffic).
